Matlock Community Church began in 1936, and has served the community ever since. Beginning as a Home Church with an itinerant pastor. Soon the current site of the church was purchased and donated. The original church building was a bunk house owned by Simpson Lumber Company, before that we understand it was a brothel.
Church was held in that building until early 2000. A new building was needed, and built with Faith Promise Funds, it took a few years but the congregation moved into the church debt free.
Matlock Community Church Vision Statement
The Matlock Community Church exists to teach people in the community and surrounding areas about God’s love and redemption of Jesus on the cross.
Matlock Community Church Mission Statement
The Matlock Community Church will become a “light on the hill” in the community and surrounding areas as a safe place to fellowship together, building up believers, teaching the Holy Bible, God’s word including the gospel of Jesus Christ, and showing His love through actions.
We believe the Bible is the verbally inspired Word and Revelation of God inerrant, infallible and God-breathed.
We believe in the Deity of Jesus Christ – His Virgin Birth; that He is the Incarnate of the Father – Very God of Very God, for Whom and by Whom all things were created.
We believe in the substitutionary atonement of the Lord Jesus Christ, and that He by the grace of God tasted death for every man, and that all must be born again or are forever lost.
We believe in the physical resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ and that He ascended bodily into the Heavens and is now at the right hand of God as our Mediator, Priest, and Advocate.
We believe in the universality and exceeding sinfulness of sin.
We believe in the Triune God manifest in Three Persons – God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the infallible Interpreter of the Infallible Bible.
We believe in the Personal, Premillennial coming of our Lord Jesus Christ: (1) For His saints, (2) with His saints to reign a thousand years over the earth.
We believe that Heaven is a place of eternal blessedness and that Hell is a place of eternal suffering.
It is our conviction that all believers are baptized by the Holy Spirit into the Body of Christ at one’s conversion. We believe in the indwelling of the Holy Spirit for all Christians, and that they are equipped with one or more spiritual gifts for the edification of the Body of Christ, and the Glory of God.
